Antonelli San Marco
Antonelli San Marco is a long-established producer based in Montefalco, in the heart of Umbria’s wine-growing region, with deep ties to the village of San Marco and an agricultural landscape where vines and olive trees have coexisted for centuries. In operation since 1883, the winery showcases one of the appellation’s most characteristic areas, where Sagrantino thrives thanks to hillside exposures, clay-limestone soils and a climate that allows for slow and complete ripening.
The winery’s identity is based on certified organic cultivation and the winemaking of its own grapes, a choice that allows for direct control over the raw material and a consistent understanding of the individual vineyards. The approach to organic farming is understood as an active and rigorous practice: agronomic care, attention to the natural balance of the vines and measured interventions in the winery are all aimed at preserving the distinctive character of the terroir and the grape varieties.
Alongside Sagrantino, the variety that symbolises Montefalco, the range includes grapes deeply rooted in the traditions of Umbria and central Italy, such as Sangiovese, Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino. The wines’ style emphasises depth, structure and expressive precision, with reds that combine tannic density, freshness and ageing potential, and whites with a crisp, terroir-driven profile. Antonelli San Marco thus represents a solid and recognisable voice for Montefalco, founded on agricultural continuity, respect for the landscape and a genuine commitment to the terroir.
