Antonio Caggiano
Cantine Antonio Caggiano was founded in Taurasi in 1990 and embodies an Irpinian approach centred on the depth of Aglianico and the potential of the great wine regions of the province of Avellino. The producer operates in an inland hilly landscape, characterised by significant daily temperature variations, cold winters and complex soils, where clay, limestone and volcanic materials combine to give the wines structure, vigour and the potential to develop over time. In this environment, Aglianico ripens slowly and fully, which is essential for expressing the character of Taurasi DOCG: full-bodied, with a distinctive tannic structure, aromatic depth and a natural acidity. Alongside the region’s iconic red wine, the estate’s identity also celebrates Irpinia’s historic white grape varieties, in particular Fiano and Greco, crafted with a focus on freshness, varietal expression and the minerality of Campania’s Apennine terroir. The winemaking approach prioritises meticulous management of the raw materials and a vinification process designed to preserve the relationship between grape variety, vintage and place of origin. The style is consistent and terroir-driven: the reds focus on depth, balance and ageing potential, whilst the whites retain precision, savouriness and expressive clarity. Within the Campania wine scene, Antonio Caggiano is one of the most recognisable voices of Taurasi and Irpinia, with wines that combine deep local roots with a meticulous interpretative approach.
