Antonio Camillo
Antonio Camillo is a wine producer from the Tuscan Maremma, based in the Manciano and Montemerano area, who has built his reputation around the inland hills of the province of Grosseto. His work stems from an agricultural understanding of the territory: vineyards situated between Manciano, Capalbio and Pitigliano, at hilly altitudes, with clay soils, red clays, skeletal material and tuff components of volcanic origin, all contribute to defining wines with a strong Maremma character. Ciliegiolo plays a central and defining role, interpreted as a grape variety capable of expressing fruit, juiciness, freshness and a natural conviviality; alongside it, Sangiovese evokes the tradition of Morellino di Scansano, whilst Procanico, Vermentino and other Mediterranean varieties enrich the agricultural narrative without compromising territorial coherence. The approach in the vineyard is based on certified organic farming, with manual labour and differentiated management of the plots according to their freshness, dryness and structure. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation, the use of indigenous yeasts, concrete tanks and measured interventions prevail, with the aim of preserving the energy, substance and character of the grapes. The wines’ style prioritises expressive naturalness, lively acidity, savouriness and crisp fruit, reflecting a luminous, agricultural Maremma hillside region that is deeply rooted in its historic grape varieties.
