Banfi
Banfi is a Tuscan producer with deep-rooted ties to Montalcino, a region in which it has forged a central part of its winemaking identity. The estate is set amongst the rolling hills south of Siena, where Sangiovese finds one of its most recognisable expressions in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation. The winery interprets this context through an approach that combines a respect for local tradition, agronomic research and the judicious use of technology, striving to interpret the nuances of the soils, exposures and vintages with precision and consistency.
The work on Sangiovese is one of the most defining features: over the years, Banfi has devoted particular attention to studying Montalcino’s iconic grape variety, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with the aim of enhancing its structure, aromatic depth and potential for development. The management of the raw material prioritises consistency between the vineyard and winemaking, maintaining a stylistic profile focused on balance, crisp fruit, well-defined tannins and a distinct sense of place.
Sustainability is an integral part of the production approach, underpinned by industry certifications and practices aimed at protecting the environment, biodiversity and the agricultural landscape. Within this framework, Banfi represents a Tuscan winery where the culture of Brunello is intertwined with research, environmental responsibility and a production philosophy based on continuity between the terroir, the grape variety and the style of the wine.
