Buondonno
Buondonno is a Tuscan producer based in Castellina in Chianti, in the historic Chianti Classico region, in the hamlet of Casavecchia alla Piazza. Its identity stems from a farmstead documented in 16th-century maps of the area and has developed around a consistent agricultural philosophy: farming according to the principles of organic agriculture, with the aim of intervening sparingly in the natural environment and preserving its balance. The surrounding landscape, characterised by rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and woodland, helps to define a style of Chianti Classico associated with freshness, aromatic precision and a distinct sense of place. In this context, Sangiovese finds its classic mode of expression, supported by Castellina in Chianti’s viticultural heritage and by a management approach to the raw material that is rooted in respect for the soil and the vitality of the vineyard. The winery maintains a restrained approach, aimed at ensuring that technique does not overshadow the character of the grapes: the wine matures in a historic setting beneath the main farmhouse, dating back to the 16th century, reinforcing the link between production and place. The wines’ style prioritises balance, tension and clarity, with a profile that interprets Chianti Classico in an essential and terroir-driven manner. Buondonno thus represents a consistent presence on the Castellina scene, where agricultural tradition, an organic approach and attention to the expression of the landscape combine to define a distinct and recognisable identity.
