Ca' del Baio
Ca’ del Baio is a Piedmontese producer based in Treiso, in the heart of the Barbaresco region, situated on the natural border with Barbaresco and not far from Neive. Its identity stems from its direct connection with the Langhe hills and with vineyards spread between Treiso and Barbaresco, where Nebbiolo expresses itself in different ways depending on the aspect, slope and soil composition. The estate’s plots include geographical designations such as Asili, Pora, Vallegrande and Marcarini, with soils characterised by the bluish calcareous marl of Sant’Agata Fossili – compact soils well-suited to wines of structure, depth and ageing potential.
The approach in the vineyard prioritises vegetative balance, close monitoring of the vines and environmental protection. Agronomic management excludes chemical fertilisers and synthetic herbicides, promotes green manure between the rows and adheres to the principles of The Green Experience, which focus on biodiversity, care for the wine-growing landscape and the reduction of chemical interventions. The proximity of the vineyards to the estate’s centre facilitates the prompt processing of the grapes and careful management of resources.
In the winery, the approach remains consistent with this vision: fermentation with indigenous yeasts, measured use of sulphur dioxide, and a quest to capture the true character of the harvest and the terroir. Ca’ del Baio’s wines are distinguished by their expression of the terroir, the finesse of the Nebbiolo and stylistic consistency, with a profile that combines precision, authenticity and Langhe sensibility.
