Ca' Rugate
Ca' Rugate is a Veneto-based producer with deep roots in the eastern part of the province of Verona, having forged its identity through Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello. The name refers to the volcanic Rugate hill in the Soave Classico region: a reference that aptly expresses the winery’s connection to hilly landscapes characterised by mineral-rich soils, varied exposures and a tradition of viticulture focused on promoting indigenous grape varieties.
In the Soave region, Ca' Rugate focuses primarily on bringing out the character of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave, seeking to create white wines that offer a crisp, savoury and dynamic expression of the terroir. The volcanic soil and the altitude of the hills contribute to profiles characterised by freshness, tension and aromatic precision, with wines that prioritise balance and depth over simple immediacy. In Valpolicella, the approach centres on the region’s traditional grape varieties, such as Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone, interpreted in a style that combines structure, expressive purity and a distinct sense of place.
The inclusion of Durello from the Lessini region rounds off the company’s portfolio with another Veronese appellation closely linked to volcanic soils and the Durella grape, a variety naturally characterised by freshness and structure. Overall, Ca’ Rugate stands out for its consistent range of wines, based on an understanding of Verona’s diverse terroirs and on wines with a distinct character, capable of maintaining a balance between local tradition and contemporary sensibilities.
