Cantina Paltrinieri
Cantina Paltrinieri is deeply rooted in the heart of Sorbara, in the Modena area, where for four generations it has been crafting Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC as a precise expression of a very distinct terroir. Its identity stems from the historic area of Cristo di Sorbara, the narrow strip of plain between the Secchia and Panaro rivers: a setting that contributes to the wine’s freshness, acidity and the grape variety’s natural tendency to produce sparkling wine. The soils, described as loose, predominantly silty and sandy, cool and rich in organic matter, provide a consistent foundation for wines with a refined, fragrant and briny profile.
The winery’s work focuses primarily on showcasing Sorbara, including as a single-varietal wine, with an approach that emphasises delicate colour, aromatic precision and a lively, drinkable character. Agronomic management involves integrated pest management practices, whilst in the winery, technical choices include careful handling of the raw material, vinification without maceration or using the ‘in bianco’ method, and refermentation in the bottle using the Martinotti method or the classic method, depending on the desired expression. The result is Lambrusco wines often characterised by a bright, pale colour and a fine perlage, with notes of small red berries, citrus, flowers and a distinctive savoury quality. Cantina Paltrinieri thus offers a contemporary yet deeply rooted interpretation of Lambrusco di Sorbara, one that places the grape variety, the Modena plain and the balance between freshness, finesse and local identity at the heart of the wine.
