Casa D'Ambra
Casa D'Ambra is one of the historic landmarks of winegrowing on Ischia, with roots dating back to 1888 and an identity closely linked to the western side of the island, in Campania. Its work takes place within the landscape of the Ischia DOC, a designation approved in 1966 and among the first in the region, where the vine coexists with steep slopes, terraces, dry stone walls, wind, sun and the constant presence of the sea. In this context, viticulture takes on a distinct character: it is not merely about producing grapes, but also about preserving a fragile and distinctive agricultural landscape.
The winery focuses on Ischian native grape varieties, with Biancolella, Forastera, Uvarilla, Per’ 'e Palummo and Guarnaccia at the heart of its winemaking story. Of particular significance is the winery’s commitment to reviving ancient local varieties and safeguarding viticultural biodiversity, through an approach that combines agricultural heritage with a focus on the quality of the raw materials. The vineyards, situated in renowned areas such as Frassitelli and Montecorvo, produce wines with a Mediterranean character, characterised by freshness, savouriness and aromatic clarity. Casa D’Ambra’s style prioritises the expression of the island: crisp, luminous whites and agile, terroir-driven reds, always striving to consistently interpret the connection between the grape variety, the sea and the volcanic soils.
