Cascina Morassino
Cascina Morassino is a Piedmontese producer based in the municipality of Barbaresco, in the heart of the Langhe, where Nebbiolo finds one of its most distinctive expressions. Its identity is particularly linked to the Ovello cru, a historic area within the appellation, with a history of viticulture predating the winery’s formal establishment in the 1980s, confirming a long-standing connection with its original vineyards. Alongside this central focus, the connection with Neive and the Cottà sub-zone broadens the understanding of the territory, whilst keeping the focus on the soils, exposures and microclimates characteristic of Barbaresco.
The winemaking approach makes the most of the raw material without overpowering it, seeking aromatic precision, structure and depth in the Nebbiolo. The cellar practices reflect a traditional sensibility, with the use of large oak casks to guide the wine’s development and preserve a profile true to the appellation. The result is a restrained, terroir-driven style, in which the character of Barbaresco emerges through ripe tannins, an austere yet balanced development, expansive aromas and a palate that successfully combines energy and relaxation.
Cascina Morassino thus offers an essential and coherent interpretation of the Barbaresco wine-growing landscape: a producer that builds its distinctive identity on family continuity, the central role of the crus, and a respectful winemaking approach, aimed at expressing the Nebbiolo of the Langhe with clarity and depth.
