Castello Bonomi
Castello Bonomi is a Franciacorta producer in Lombardy, closely linked to the southern slopes of Monte Orfano, in the Coccaglio area. Its identity stems from a setting that is distinct from other areas within the appellation: an isolated, ancient and well-exposed hillside, with warm, dry conditions that favour the even ripening of the grapes destined for the classic method. The soil, characterised by a limestone-chalk matrix, clayey components and the presence of Terra Rossa, helps to define wines with mineral tension, structure and depth.
The production forms part of the Franciacorta DOCG, but interprets the terroir through a particularly precise understanding of Monte Orfano. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir thrive here, whilst the focus on Erbamat, an ancient Brescia grape variety, reflects a connection with the local viticultural history and a commitment to enhancing the region’s wine-growing heritage. The management of the raw material is described as central: the grapes from the estate’s vineyards are the starting point for Franciacorta wines designed to reflect the characteristics of the terroir.
Castello Bonomi’s style emphasises balance, vigour and a distinct sense of place. The combination of sunny exposures, mineral-rich soils and bottle-fermentation produces wines with a distinct character, capable of blending freshness, complexity and a savoury note that is consistent with the landscape of Monte Orfano.
