Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et la Salle
Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et La Salle is a leading name in Alpine viticulture in the Aosta Valley, based in the Valdigne region at the foot of Mont Blanc, in the municipalities of Morgex and La Salle. Founded in 1983 to promote an extreme and morphologically unique wine-growing area, it centres its identity on Prié Blanc, a native white grape variety associated with the Vallée d’Aoste Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle appellation. Here, the vines grow in high-mountain conditions, characterised by significant daily temperature fluctuations, intense sunlight, constant ventilation and a short growing season, favoured by the variety’s late budbreak and early ripening. Traditional low-pergola training helps to protect the vines from the wind and the cold, whilst the altitude has contributed to the preservation of ungrafted vines, not grafted onto American rootstock. The particular climatic conditions also allow for careful and measured agronomic management. In the winery, the stated approach favours minimal intervention, with the aim of preserving the freshness, authenticity and originality of Prié Blanc. The winemaking processes enhance the clear expression of the raw material, combining Aosta Valley tradition with the judicious use of technique, including in the production of the classic method. The wines’ style is characterised by tension, mineral precision, a fresh profile and a mountainous character, consistently reflecting the vertical and luminous nature of the Mont Blanc region.
