Colli di Lapio
Colli di Lapio is a Campania-based producer based in Lapio, in the heart of the Irpinia region of Avellino, in an area historically linked to Fiano di Avellino DOCG. The vineyards are situated in the inland hills of Campania, where altitude, breezes and significant daily temperature variations encourage slow ripening, well-defined aromas and a natural tension on the palate. The vineyards are situated around the towns of Lapio and Arianiello, on soils described by sources as calcareous, clayey and of volcanic origin – conditions that contribute to the wines’ aromatic finesse and minerality.
Colli di Lapio’s identity is closely linked to the grape varieties of Irpinia, with Fiano playing a central role, alongside other traditional local varieties such as Greco and Aglianico. The winemaking approach favours clear, uncluttered expressions of the raw material: for the whites, the use of stainless steel stands out, a choice consistent with the aim of preserving varietal precision, freshness and the recognisability of the terroir, whilst avoiding the masking of aromas.
The style of the wines is characterised by balance, depth and a sense of terroir. In the Fiano, in particular, Colli di Lapio interprets the character of Lapio through clean, layered profiles, with citrus notes, light fruit, herbaceous hints and a savoury undertone that underpins the palate. The result is a composed, long-lasting and well-defined expression of the Irpinia region, capable of conveying, with understated elegance, the altitude and nature of the soils.
