D.S. bio

D.S. bio is a producer based in the inland region of Lazio, rooted in Pescosolido, in the province of Frosinone, in a mountainous area situated on the Lazio side of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. Founded in 2012, the winery operates in a secluded agricultural setting, characterised by high altitude, sunny exposures, constant ventilation and significant daily temperature variations – conditions that favour slow ripening and result in fresh, taut and distinctive wine profiles. The loose soils, with sandy and calcareous components, and the steep slopes contribute to defining a precision viticulture, closely linked to the Apennine landscape of the Frosinone area.

Work in the vineyard prioritises organic and biodynamic farming, with a focus on biodiversity and the revival of local farming practices. A distinctive feature is the promotion of indigenous grape varieties historically found in this area, including Maturano Bianco and Lecinaro, alongside other varieties deeply rooted in the local tradition. Training systems also include the ‘alberata maritata’ method, where vines are trained alongside olive trees, reflecting an age-old relationship between vines, mixed cropping and the rural landscape.

In the winery, the approach remains minimalist and true to the raw material: spontaneous fermentation, the use of concrete tanks and measured interventions result in wines that emphasise energy, structure and a clear expression of the terroir. The identity of D.S. bio is thus expressed through a contemporary yet deeply local approach to viticulture, capable of conveying the fresh, mountainous and authentic character of the Apennine region of Lazio.
