Di Filippo
Di Filippo is an Umbrian producer based in Cannara, in an area situated between Assisi, Montefalco and the Colli Martani, where viticulture blends seamlessly with an agricultural landscape of hills, olive groves and historic villages. The winery’s identity stems from a respectful approach to the land: its long-standing commitment to organic farming, complemented by biodynamic practices, aims to preserve soil fertility, balance and the vitality of the vineyard ecosystem.
The production philosophy begins with the raw materials and the care of the vines, with a focus on natural rhythms, the ripening of the grapes and agronomic management aimed at reducing environmental impact. Within this framework, distinctive practices take centre stage, such as the use of animals in the vineyard – designed to limit soil compaction and minimise the use of machinery – and the use of geese for natural weed control between the rows.
The character of the wines is linked to the appellations and grape varieties that define this part of Umbria: Sagrantino in the Montefalco area, Sangiovese for the region’s red wines, Grechetto dei Colli Martani and Vernaccia di Cannara as elements of strong local identity. The result is a style that seeks a balance between the vigour of the fruit, agricultural authenticity and an interpretation of the Umbrian landscape, with wines that prioritise terroir expression, the integrity of the raw material and continuity with a practical and sustainable approach to viticulture.
