Fattoria Forano
Fattoria Forano is situated in the heart of the Marche region, in the hills around Macerata, in an area between Appignano, Montecassiano and Macerata. The location, at an altitude of around 300 metres, combines sunny aspects, constant breezes and a rural landscape characterised by the ideal proximity of the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountain range. This setting promotes the even ripening of the grapes and helps to produce wines that are clearly rooted in the tradition of the Macerata hills.
The winery’s identity centres on the region’s grape varieties, with a particular focus on Ribona – the local name for Maceratino – a white variety with deep historical roots in the Macerata area and central to the Colli Maceratesi DOC designation. Alongside this, the range includes red grape varieties that are firmly established in the wine-growing culture of the Marche region, such as Sangiovese, Lacrima and Vernaccia Nera, vinified with the aim of conveying the region’s character, balance and distinctiveness.
The hillside vineyards, well-exposed and well-ventilated, allow for careful management of the raw material, even during the longest harvests. In winemaking, the approach prioritises continuity with local tradition and attention to the maturation stages, emphasising freshness, aromatic integrity and structure without stylistic artificiality. The result is a profile that is consistent with the Macerata landscape: expressive, terroir-driven whites; reds with an authentic agricultural character; wines that tell the story of a part of the Marche region where viticulture, hilly soils and rural heritage remain deeply intertwined.
