Forteto della Luja
Forteto della Luja is situated in Loazzolo, in the Asti area, in a corner of southern Piedmont where viticulture coexists with woodland, dry stone walls and steep slopes. The name refers to the woods through which the Rio Luja flows, which surround the vineyards and define an intimate landscape, closely linked to biodiversity. Since 2007, the area has been recognised as a WWF-affiliated nature reserve: a fact that clearly illustrates the producer’s agricultural approach, which is focused on environmental protection, organic viticulture and the preservation of a particularly rich natural balance.
The identity of Forteto della Luja is closely linked to Moscato Bianco and the Loazzolo region, a very small Piedmontese appellation dedicated to a late-harvest passito wine. Here, the grapes ripen in steep vineyards, often supported by Langa stone walls, with favourable exposures and a hilly landscape that alternates between sunlight, breezes and woodland. The raw material is crafted with a focus on preserving its aromatic fragrance, finesse and depth, through a winemaking approach that prioritises gentle extraction, a sense of place and respect for the grapes’ natural ripening process.
The style of these wines expresses the brightest and most natural side of Moscato from the Asti region: crisp aromas, measured sweetness, freshness and an elegant texture, capable of combining aromatic immediacy with depth. Forteto della Luja thus offers a precise interpretation of Loazzolo and the Moscato region of Piedmont, where wine and landscape remain part of the same harmony.
