Jacuss
Jacuss is a winery based in Montina di Torreano, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, an area of Friuli Venezia Giulia with a long history of wine-growing, thanks to its hilly terrain, significant daily temperature variations and a strong interplay between soil and grape varieties. Its character is particularly linked to the Pietra Piasentina found in the subsoil, a territorial feature that helps to define a distinctive mineral profile in the wines and to strengthen the connection with this part of Friuli.
The company’s journey began in 1990 with the decision to focus exclusively on viticulture, transforming a broader agricultural enterprise into a project centred on the vineyard. The estate’s management approach emphasises the importance of work in the vineyard through careful pruning, the search for suitable training systems and yield management, all aimed at producing grapes that are more concentrated and true to the terroir. Local sources also note that the estate holds organic certification, in line with an agricultural approach centred on respect for the raw material.
The winery interprets Friuli’s viticultural heritage, focusing on varieties such as Friulano, Verduzzo, Picolit, Refosco, Schioppettino and Tazzelenghe, alongside international grape varieties that are now firmly established in the Colli Orientali. The style seeks a balance between rural tradition and contemporary technical expertise: clean, expressive wines that combine freshness, structure and a subtle minerality, conveying an authentic and nuanced picture of the Torreano region.
