Producers/ Jankara
Jankara
Jankara is a Sardinian producer based in Sant’Antonio di Gallura, in the north-east of the island, with an identity centred on the Vena di San Leonardo, an inland area of Alta Gallura associated with the Vermentino di Gallura DOCG designation. Here, Vermentino finds a particularly expressive environment: granite hills, well-drained sandy soils, the influence of Lake Liscia and Mount Limbara, significant daily temperature variations and mistral winds all combine to preserve the freshness and health of the grapes, as well as their aromatic definition. The character of the terroir favours white wines with structure, savouriness and mineral precision, in which the Mediterranean character blends with floral and fruity notes and a taut, persistent finish. Alongside Gallura, Jankara also looks to the hinterland of Mamoiada, where Cannonau takes on a more mountainous and profound character, in harmony with a landscape that is different yet equally representative of Sardinia. The winemaking approach is focused on the quality of the raw material, with attention to vineyard management, low yields and practices that promote natural concentration and balance. The result is a recognisable style, capable of combining energy, salinity and ripeness, whilst keeping the expression of the grape varieties and the terroirs from which they originate at the heart of the wine.
