L'Archetipo
L’Archetipo is a Apulian producer based in Castellaneta, in the province of Taranto, in an area where the Murgia of Bari meets the Upper Salento. Its identity stems from a very direct relationship with the soil: following a long journey through organic and biodynamic farming, the estate has shifted its focus towards synergistic agriculture, understood as the pursuit of balance between vines, wild plants, microorganisms and humus. In the vineyard, this approach translates into non-interventionist practices, with no deep ploughing, chemical fertilisers or pesticides, with the aim of fostering a fertile and self-sustaining ecosystem.
The natural environment of Castellaneta, characterised by intense sunlight, a gentle breeze and soil and climate conditions favourable to grape ripening, supports a viticultural approach centred on grape varieties deeply rooted in the Apulian terroir. Alongside Primitivo, Aglianico, Negroamaro, Fiano and Greco, L’Archetipo also showcases lesser-known local grape varieties such as Maresco, Marchione and Susumaniello, celebrating them as part of the region’s agricultural and cultural heritage.
The winemaking process follows the same philosophy of simplicity: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no filtration, and a focus on preserving the aroma, colour and integrity of the fruit. The result is a distinctive style, based on living matter, territorial expression and a natural continuity between the work in the vineyard and the wine. L’Archetipo thus represents an original voice in Apulian winemaking, rooted in care for the soil and the pursuit of wines that are authentically connected to their environment.
