La Plantze

La Plantze is a producer from the Aosta Valley with strong links to mountain viticulture in the Villeneuve area and the central valley, where the fragmentation of the vineyards is an integral part of the local agricultural identity. The name derives from the Patois word for ‘parcel’, a direct reference to a vineyard landscape made up of small, often terraced plots, spread out along the course of the Dora Baltea and shaped by distinct and demanding alpine conditions.

The vineyard is situated on soils of morainic origin, with sandier areas towards Aosta and rockier stretches between Villeneuve and Saint-Pierre, where the presence of granite accentuates the mineral and austere character of the site. The climate is dry and breezy, characterised by significant daily temperature fluctuations and the stones’ ability to retain heat during the day and release it at night: factors that promote slow ripening, freshness and aromatic definition.

The winemaking philosophy places wine at the heart of the process, allowing the raw material, vintage and intrinsic characteristics to guide decisions regarding ageing and vinification. Manual work in the vineyard and in the cellar is combined with a free yet measured pursuit of expression, open to experimentation without compromising elegance and finesse. The result is a distinctive Alpine style, in which energy, structure, precision and a sense of place tell the story of the Aosta Valley through wines with a personal and contemporary character.
