Masciarelli
Masciarelli is a winemaker from Abruzzo based in San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the heart of the province of Chieti, and views Abruzzo as a mosaic of terroirs characterised by stark natural contrasts. Its identity stems from a thorough understanding of the regional landscape, where viticulture encounters terrain that slopes rapidly from the mountains down through the hills to the Adriatic, with microclimates influenced by the Maiella, the sea and the summer temperature variations. In this context, limestone soils, clay, silt, breezy slopes and more inland areas all contribute to defining the different expressions of the grapes.
The connection with the Abruzzo wine appellations is central: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo form part of the region’s protected heritage, and Masciarelli’s approach to these wines focuses on highlighting the fruit’s character, the precision of the raw material and the expression of the region’s unique soil and climate conditions. The winemaking approach prioritises consistency between vineyard and wine, with winemaking techniques designed to preserve freshness, structure and clarity of expression.
Sustainability is firmly embedded in the company’s vision: protecting the ecosystem, managing resources responsibly and focusing on reducing environmental impact are integral to our work in the vineyard and in the winery. The result is a style that combines terroir-driven depth with contemporary clarity, producing Abruzzo wines with a distinct character, rooted in the region’s biodiversity and its strong agricultural identity.
