Musella
Musella is a Veneto-based producer based in the eastern part of Valpolicella, in the San Martino Buon Albergo area, north-east of Verona. Its identity stems from a complex natural environment, where vines coexist with woodland, water and biodiversity, in a landscape that offers a less conventional and more intimate interpretation of the appellation. The location, close to the Illasi Valley and characterised by slightly warmer temperatures than other parts of Valpolicella, favours careful ripening and the full expression of the grapes’ character.
Agricultural work is carried out in accordance with biodynamic principles, with a focus on soil fertility, soil vitality and respect for natural rhythms. This approach translates into a balanced management of raw materials, avoiding synthetic mineral fertilisers and chemical pesticides, and seeking a harmonious relationship between the vineyard, the vintage and the winemaking process. The main grape varieties are the traditional ones of Valpolicella, such as Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, complemented by local varieties that add depth and character.
The limestone soils, with traces of red ferrous clay and tuff components in some plots, contribute to wines with a crisp profile, characterised by fruit, structure and a sense of the terroir. Musella’s style favours a natural and distinctive Valpolicella, in which the tradition of grape drying and the Veronese appellations interact with a contemporary, measured approach to viticulture that is deeply rooted in the terroir.
