Ottaviano Lambruschi

Ottaviano Lambruschi is a Ligurian winemaker based in Castelnuovo Magra, in the Colli di Luni region – a cultural and viticultural borderland between eastern Liguria and Tuscany. His identity has its roots in the village of Costa Marina, on the hills overlooking the Apuan coast, and has been shaped by a precise understanding of Vermentino, the key grape variety for the Colli di Luni DOC designation. The natural setting combines sloping hillsides, favourable exposures and the maritime influence that sweeps through the valley, contributing to wines with a savoury, bright and Mediterranean profile.

The vineyards comprise plots on both low and high hillsides, with clay soils and, in some areas, red soils rich in iron-based minerals. This diversity allows for different expressions of the same grape variety, whilst maintaining freshness, aromatic finesse and a recognisable salty character as a common thread. The management of the raw material is based on constant care in the vineyard, grape selection and attention to vegetative balance; sources also indicate agronomic practices such as green manure and a focus on reducing yields.

In the winery, the approach prioritises expressive purity and stylistic consistency, with meticulous winemaking and the use of temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve the wines’ fragrance and clarity. The wines generally display straw-yellow colours with greenish highlights, floral and fruity aromas, hints of Mediterranean herbs and a dry, savoury palate, sometimes marked by a subtle almond note. The result is a profile that is consistent with the landscape of the Colli di Luni: maritime, hilly and deeply rooted in Ligurian Vermentino.
