Pranzegg
Pranzegg is a South Tyrolean producer rooted in the hills surrounding the Bolzano basin, in a landscape where Alpine influences meet a more Mediterranean climate. The vineyards are situated on steep slopes, exposed to cool, breezy conditions, with nights that help preserve the wines’ tension and aromatic precision. The volcanic soils, characterised by porphyry, basalt, granite and clayey sands, contribute to the wines’ mineral and vertical character.
The agricultural approach is biodynamic and regards the vineyard as part of a living ecosystem, interconnected with the soil, plants and biodiversity. Manual labour plays a central role, in keeping with the steep terrain of the vineyards and with the aim of guiding the raw material without forcing its expression. The grape varieties with deep historical roots in South Tyrol, including Schiava, Lagrein and Gewürztraminer, are crafted with a focus on the vitality of the fruit and the distinct character of the terroir.
In the winery, a minimalist approach prevails: spontaneous fermentation, extended contact with the lees, no fining or filtration, and a measured use of sulphur dioxide. The result is wines with a distinct character, focused more on freshness, vigour and depth than on concentration, capable of expressing the freshest and most dynamic aspects of the Bolzano region.
