Producers/ Prima Terra
Prima Terra
Prima Terra has its origins in the vertical landscape of the Cinque Terre, in eastern Liguria, and finds the core of its identity in the relationship between the vineyard, the sea and the rock. Production is centred primarily on the terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, supported by dry stone walls and set in a context where viticulture remains a deeply labour-intensive craft. Alongside this coastal heartland, the estate’s operations also extend into the Colli di Luni and the Apuan Hills, border regions where the Ligurian character meets diverse influences and soils capable of revealing a broader expression of the grape varieties grown.
Prima Terra’s approach aims to bring out the natural characteristics of the wines’ places of origin: the minerality of the rocky soils, the constant presence of the sea, the mild and breezy climate, and the Mediterranean biodiversity comprising aromatic herbs, scrubland, citrus fruits, woodland and wildflowers. The grape varieties of the Ligurian coast and the Ligurian-Provençal region are interpreted with a sensitivity that prioritises substance, depth and a close connection to the terroir.
In the winery, the style is unmistakably Mediterranean, with controlled skin contact even in the white wines and technical choices designed to preserve energy, structure and complexity. In this way, Prima Terra embodies a vision of wine as a continuum between agricultural production and landscape conservation, contributing to the restoration and vitality of a fragile, austere yet deeply expressive wine-growing environment.
