Radikon
Radikon is a producer with deep roots in Oslavia, in the hills of Gorizia, in that part of Friuli Venezia Giulia where the Collio region looks towards Slovenia and the vineyard-covered landscape is shaped by slopes, air currents and ‘ponca’ – the marly-sandy soil that characterises the area. Its identity stems from an essential relationship with the vineyard: just a few bunches per vine, hand-harvested at full ripeness, and a focus on the skins as a crucial element in the wine’s expression.
The winery is renowned for an approach that emphasises skin contact even in its white wines, interpreting local grape varieties such as Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Malvasia Istriana and Pinot Grigio alongside a number of varieties deeply rooted in local tradition. The winemaking process prioritises spontaneous fermentation, extended fermentation times and ageing that allow the wine to develop balance and stability without compromising its character.
The Radikon style is distinct and recognisable: wines that are full-bodied and deep, often characterised by intense colour, a tannic structure, savoury vigour and a very direct expression of the vintage and the terroir. Maceration is not a stylistic device, but part of a coherent vision that unites grapes, terroir and time. In this sense, Radikon represents one of Oslavia’s most significant voices, helping to define a Friulian language of macerated wines that retains strong agricultural roots and a distinct territorial identity.
