Rivera
Rivera is a historic name in Apulian winemaking, deeply rooted in the Castel del Monte area and the central Murgia. Its identity stems from the promotion of an inland territory that differs from the region’s more Mediterranean and coastal image: limestone plateaus, calcareous-tuff soils of marine origin, open exposures and breezes from the Adriatic create conditions favourable to slow ripening and wines capable of combining structure, freshness and elegance.
Production focuses on the Castel del Monte appellations, where Rivera has helped to bring a modern profile to the local grape varieties and their various expressions. Nero di Troia, Bombino Nero, Bombino Bianco, Aglianico and Montepulciano form the most distinctive core of the region’s wine production, alongside interpretations of international varieties adapted to the Apulian terroir. The approach prioritises an understanding of the raw material and harmony with the Murgia environment, seeking a balance between fruit ripeness, flavour intensity and aromatic precision.
The style of Rivera’s wines is characterised by a restrained yet luminous expression of Puglia, where the natural richness of the grapes never becomes overpowering, but is channelled towards freshness, finesse and the potential for development. In this sense, the producer plays a significant role in the story of Castel del Monte: he interprets a region of great character through wines that maintain a recognisable connection with the soils, climate and grape varieties of inland Puglia.
