Producers/ Rocca del Principe
Rocca del Principe
Rocca del Principe is a Campania-based winery with strong ties to Lapio, in the heart of the Avellino region of Irpinia, one of the most renowned areas for the production of Fiano di Avellino. The producer draws on a hilly terroir with a strong identity, where the altitude, the aspect of the vineyards and the soil composition all contribute to defining white wines characterised by precision, depth and aromatic persistence. The grapes come from vineyards situated in the Lapio area, at altitudes of between 500 and 600 metres, on soils where clay, limestone and volcanic components lend the wines freshness, savouriness and a distinctive mineral character.
The winemaking approach highlights Fiano as a regional grape variety, prioritising a minimalist interpretation of the raw material and a winemaking process aimed at achieving a clean, expressive style. The use of stainless steel, controlled fermentation and ageing on fine lees help to preserve aromatic clarity, structural tension and continuity on the palate. The result is a consistent style, centred on aromas of citrus, dried fruit, herbs and flowers, underpinned by a fresh, dry and savoury palate. Rocca del Principe thus forms part of the cultural landscape of Fiano di Avellino, with a production that highlights Lapio, its unique soil and climate conditions, and the grape variety’s ability to convey energy, complexity and balance.
