Producers/ Rosset Terroir
Rosset Terroir
Rosset Terroir is a producer from the Aosta Valley with a strong connection to mountain viticulture and the Vallée d’Aoste PDO designation. Its identity stems from its interaction with a harsh Alpine landscape, where high altitudes, steep slopes, glacial soils and significant daily temperature variations produce a naturally taut, luminous and distinctive raw material. The vineyards are spread across key areas of the region: Chambave, with sandy and rocky soils well-suited to Moscato Bianco; the hills above Aosta, between Saint-Christophe and the areas of Senin and Thuvex, characterised by sandy, stony soils rich in coarse material; Villeneuve, where the highest plots, comprising sand, silt, slate, quartz and granite, are home to varieties such as Petite Arvine and Pinot Gris.
The winemaking approach showcases both native Aosta Valley grape varieties, such as Cornalin and Petit Rouge, and Alpine and international varieties that clearly reflect the high-altitude terroir. In the winery, the winemaking process prioritises precision, balance and respect for the wine’s origins: stainless steel, oak and terracotta vessels are selected to best express the grape variety and terroir, with ageing processes designed to preserve freshness, structure and aromatic definition. Sustainability is integral to the producer’s agricultural vision, underpinned by the use of energy from renewable sources. The result is a consistent style, centred on minerality, vigour and finesse, in which the Aosta Valley emerges as an extreme yet deeply expressive wine-growing landscape.
