Tasca d'Almerita
Tasca d’Almerita is a Sicilian winery deeply rooted in the island’s agricultural history, with its origins in Regaleali, in the heart of Sicily, and a journey shaped by an understanding of the region’s diverse wine-growing landscapes. Its identity stems from the interplay between inland hills, volcanoes, the sea and the islands: distinct settings that encompass the Sclafani district, Mount Etna, Salina, Mozia and Monreale, each interpreted through soils, microclimates and grape varieties that are true to their respective terroirs.
Work in the vineyard focuses on the relationship between biodiversity, raw materials and a precise understanding of the terroir. At Regaleali, amidst rolling hills, varied soils and significant climatic variation, research in the vineyards has helped to showcase Sicilian grape varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Catarratto, Perricone, Nerello Mascalese and Grillo, alongside varieties introduced in a spirit of experimentation. On Mount Etna, the character of the wines is linked to the volcanic terroir and the finesse of Nerello Mascalese, whilst in the island regions, the sea and the wind give the wines a more briny and luminous profile.
Sustainability is an integral part of the company’s approach, with participation in the SOStain and VIVA programmes and a measurable focus on resources, energy, materials, biodiversity and the protection of ecosystems. The result is a style recognisable for its balance, expressive purity and ability to reflect the diversity of Sicily: not a single winemaking identity, but a mosaic of terroirs cultivated with continuity, observation and respect.
