Tenuta le Querce
Tenuta le Querce is part of the Vulture wine-growing region in Basilicata, with vineyards in the municipality of Barile, in the province of Potenza. Its identity is closely linked to the Aglianico del Vulture DOC, a designation based on 100 per cent Aglianico and a natural environment shaped by the ancient volcanic origins of Mount Vulture. Here, the soil composition and climatic conditions combine to produce a grape with a strong character, capable of blending structure, freshness and aromatic depth.
The work in the vineyard and in the winery is aimed at bringing out the character of Aglianico, a grape variety that ripens slowly and has a pronounced tannic structure. The winemaking process involves maceration on the skins and the use of temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing that may include French oak and bottle ageing. The result is a style centred on intense reds, with a ripe and spicy profile, featuring notes of dark fruit, a broad palate and a savoury character that reflects the mineral character of the terroir.
Set in Barile, a historic and renowned area of the Vulture region, Tenuta le Querce interprets Basilicata’s wine heritage through a consistent, terroir-driven and distinctive style. The winery focuses on the connection between the vineyard, the volcanic soil and the grape variety, producing wines that convey the austere strength of Aglianico and its ability to develop complexity without losing its original identity.
