Tenuta Sant'Antonio
Tenuta Sant’Antonio is a Veneto-based producer situated in the eastern part of the Valpolicella region, in a hilly area that also overlooks Soave and is home to some of the most recognisable wine appellations in the Verona area. Its identity is rooted in the area between San Briccio, the Garbi Mountains and the Illasi and Mezzane valleys, in a vineyard-covered landscape where the influence of Lake Garda helps to moderate the climate and ensure consistent ripening. The soil profile is varied and significant: alongside the limestone components found in the Valpolicella vineyards, the neighbouring Soave district reflects the volcanic origins of the eastern Lessini Mountains, with basalt and fossilised sediments that add depth to the understanding of the terroir.
The focus is on the region’s traditional grape varieties, in particular Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella for the Valpolicella reds, alongside Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave for the white wines. The winemaking approach prioritises carefully managed raw materials, meticulous harvesting and winemaking techniques designed to preserve character, precision and distinctiveness. Technical choices include temperature control, gentle pressing and ageing processes that support the wine’s structure without overshadowing the expression of the fruit.
Tenuta Sant’Antonio’s style combines the classic character of Valpolicella with a crisp, contemporary interpretation: wines with a well-defined profile, controlled ripeness, a balanced structure and a constant quest for terroir-driven character. The focus on more natural production methods, including experimentation with wines without added sulphites, also helps to define a dynamic and consistent producer within the Veneto wine scene.
