Valle Reale

Valle Reale is situated in the inland region of Abruzzo, in a mountainous landscape characterised by its proximity to the Gran Sasso, the Majella and the Morrone massif. The vineyards are situated in the Popoli and Capestrano area, in a setting that remains largely unspoilt, where woodland, springs and significant daily temperature variations help to shape a distinctive character in the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo wines. The location, which is cooler and more continental than other wine-growing areas in the region, favours slow ripening, distinct aromatic profiles and a recognisable expressive intensity.

Valle Reale’s work centres on the selection of raw materials and the enhancement of the differences between individual vineyards. Popoli is one of the project’s key locations, with poor soils, limestone components and a wooded setting that influences the microclimate; Capestrano, on the Ofena plain, on the other hand, has a higher clay content and a strong connection to the Tirino ecosystem. The historic San Calisto vineyard plays an important role in ensuring the continuity of Montepulciano production on the estate.

In the winery, the winemaking philosophy is based on spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, a choice designed to preserve the connection between the grapes, the environment and the vintage. The resulting wines capture the essence of the mountainous Abruzzo region with freshness, depth and a distinct sense of place, whilst maintaining a stylistic approach centred on varietal purity and the precision of natural expression.
