Trámin, also known as Termeno, is situated on the western side of the Val d’Adige, in a wine-growing landscape characterised by hills, slopes and terraces facing mainly south and south-east. The vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging roughly from 250 to 850 metres, with a remarkable variety of microclimates, exposures and ripening conditions.
The Alpine-Mediterranean climate combines bright, warm days, influenced by air currents from Lake Garda, with cool nights cooled by breezes descending from the mountains. This marked daily temperature range helps to preserve the wine’s freshness and define its aromas. The soils consist of a mixture of clay, gravel, limestone and porphyry; in the more calcareous and clayey plots, the soil retains moisture and releases the heat accumulated during the day.
Trámin has a long-standing association with Gewürztraminer, a grape variety that finds ideal conditions here to express aromas of rose, lychee, spices and ripe fruit, underpinned by body and savoury notes. Alongside this variety, the region also cultivates Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Moscato Giallo, Schiava, Lagrein, Pinot Nero and a number of Bordeaux grape varieties. Viticulture emphasises precision in vineyard work, from canopy management to manual harvesting, with harvests timed according to plot, altitude and degree of ripeness.
