The Valtenesi region stretches across the morainic hills on the Brescia side of Lake Garda, in a landscape shaped by glaciers and softened by the presence of water. The soils, consisting of morainic deposits rich in pebbles, sand and clay, promote good drainage and contribute to the finesse, flavour and balance of the wines. The climate is mild, with temperate winters, bright and breezy summers, and marked temperature variations between day and night – conditions that help to preserve freshness and aromas.
The flagship grape variety is Groppello, in its Gentile, Mocasina and Santo Stefano expressions, characterised by thin skins and a ripening process that produces agile, fragrant and delicately spiced wines. In the local tradition, it is blended with Marzemino, Barbera and Sangiovese, whilst the white wines primarily showcase Italic and Rhine Riesling. The range includes rosé wines produced through brief maceration on the skins, fine and savoury reds, more structured wines for ageing, varietal expressions and rosé sparkling wines produced using the Martinotti or traditional method. The region’s wine-growing culture has been intertwined for centuries with olive cultivation and the Mediterranean landscape of Lake Garda, defining a luminous, elegant and distinctive terroir.
