Osimo enjoys a privileged location in the hinterland of the Conero Riviera, amongst the hills overlooking the Adriatic and the slopes of Monte Conero. The vineyard landscape stretches across gentle, well-exposed and breezy slopes, where the maritime influence moderates temperatures and promotes the gradual ripening of the grapes. The soils alternate between clay, clayey marl and limestone components, providing conditions that produce structured yet balanced wines, with good freshness and a well-defined tannic structure.
The most distinctive characteristic is linked to Montepulciano, the key grape variety in Rosso Conero and Conero Riserva, which in Osimo expresses intense colour, aromas of black cherry and dark fruits, floral nuances and a pronounced savoury component. The region also makes the most of other black grape varieties authorised under regional regulations, which are used to balance complexity and harmony. Red wine production, carried out with carefully controlled extraction, may be complemented by ageing in stainless steel or oak, depending on the desired style. The area’s winemaking history has ancient roots and is being revitalised today through a precise understanding of the individual plots, their exposures and the interplay between soil, sea breezes and local agricultural practices.
