Posticeddu is situated on the Salento plain in the Brindisi area, in a strip of land close to the Adriatic coast where vineyards intermingle with Mediterranean scrub, olive groves and dune landscapes. The open, gently rolling landscape benefits from a Mediterranean climate characterised by mild winters, hot summers and a constant sea breeze, a factor which helps to preserve the balance and aromatic integrity of the grapes.
The soils of the plain consist of limestone substrates and terraced marine deposits, with soils in which the limestone component is locally associated with tuffaceous and clayey matrices, as well as the typical red Salento soil. This mosaic of soil types favours wines with a well-defined structure, underpinned by a pleasant savouriness and a recognisable Mediterranean character.
Among the most representative grape varieties of the Brindisi area, Negroamaro and Susumaniello stand out, alongside Malvasia Nera, Primitivo and white grape varieties permitted under the Salento appellations. Local interpretations include intense, fruity reds, bright rosés and fresh white wines, as well as sparkling wines permitted under the appellation regulations. The Apulian ‘alberello’ tradition coexists with espalier training systems and short pruning, in a viticultural approach that focuses on ensuring good airflow around the bunches, promoting phenolic ripening and enhancing the region’s coastal identity.
