Antichi Vigneti Manca
Antichi Vigneti Manca is situated in the heart of Romangia, in north-western Sardinia, in the area around Sorso and the village of Badde Pira, overlooking the Gulf of Asinara. Its identity is linked to mature vineyards, largely trained using the alberello method, rooted in a Mediterranean setting characterised by light, the proximity of the sea and the Mistral wind. The soils, described as calcareous-clayey, containing white marl, fossils and conglomerates of Miocene origin, contribute to a precise expression of the terroir, capable of combining savouriness, body and expressive intensity.
The work centres on the preservation of historic grape varieties and clones from the Romangia region, in particular Retagliadu Nieddu – an ancient local biotype of Cannonau – alongside Vermentino, Girò bianco, Pascal, Cagnulari and Moscato di Sorso-Sennori. The vineyard is managed using a respectful and minimally interventionist approach: available sources indicate the use of contact products such as sulphur and copper, the absence of chemical weed control, and manual management of the main operations, including the grape harvest.
In the winery, this same consistency is reflected in spontaneous fermentation, without the use of enzymes or oenological additives, with clarification and filtration left to natural processes. The result is an artisanal, Mediterranean style, centred on the raw material and the free expression of the vintage. The wines of Antichi Vigneti Manca tell the story of Badde Pira through deeply terroir-driven profiles, in which the character of the native grape varieties meets the salinity, warmth and luminosity of north-western Sardinia.
