Fattoria di Bacchereto - Terre a Mano
Fattoria di Bacchereto - Terre a Mano is situated in Bacchereto, in the municipality of Carmignano, in the province of Prato, in the Montalbano hills. It is a Tuscan agricultural estate where vines grow alongside woods and olive groves, set within a hilly landscape that helps to define the freshness, growth cycle and character of the wines. The main focus is the Carmignano DOCG, a historic appellation on the Prato side of the region, where Sangiovese is traditionally blended with Cabernet and Canaiolo, producing reds with a full-bodied structure and a distinct identity compared to other Tuscan wines based on Sangiovese.
Terre a Mano’s approach centres on caring for the raw material and on a minimally interventionist approach to the vineyard and the winery. Biodynamic viticulture, adopted in the early 2000s, is characterised by the absence of herbicides, chemical fertilisers and synthetic pesticides, with management practices geared towards maintaining the plant’s natural balance. In winemaking, the process is characterised by fermentation without selected yeasts, minimal intervention and ageing methods designed to complement the wine without overpowering the fruit.
The result is a sincere, profound and terroir-driven style, in which the Carmignano retains its energy, body and a distinctly present tannic component, but also a touch of elegance linked to the Sangiovese and the hillside. Fattoria di Bacchereto – Terre a Mano thus embodies an agricultural and artisanal Tuscany, recognisable for its consistency in production and strong ties to the Montalbano region.
