Tenuta Anfosso
Tenuta Anfosso is a Ligurian wine producer with strong ties to the Rossese di Dolceacqua area, in the western part of the region, where the inland hills meet the influence of the sea and the Ligurian Alps. Its identity stems from a style of viticulture deeply rooted in the local terroir, practised on steep slopes and terraces supported by dry stone walls, in a landscape that demands manual labour, consistency and great attention to the ripening of the grapes.
The heart of the estate’s production is the Rossese, a grape variety that is sensitive to the nuances of the terroir and capable of accurately reflecting the different exposures, altitudes and variations between the plots. The presence of Rossese Bianco adds a further element of local roots, confirming the estate’s focus on varieties closely linked to the agricultural heritage of western Liguria. The vineyards are situated in a Mediterranean yet breezy setting, with poor soils and well-exposed slopes – conditions that favour wines with a refined, savoury and luminous profile.
The winemaking approach focuses on making the most of the raw material and understanding the characteristics of each individual vineyard, with winemaking techniques designed to preserve the wines’ identity, freshness and expressive clarity. The wines’ style prioritises elegance, balanced aromas and a sense of place: agile, complex reds characterised by fruit, delicate spices and a hint of minerality, alongside wines that highlight the distinctive characteristics of the local grape varieties. Tenuta Anfosso thus represents a distinctive voice within Liguria’s ‘heroic’ viticulture and the heritage of Dolceacqua.
