Contrada Lenti is situated in the heart of the Sant’Eufemia Plain, within the municipality of Lamezia Terme, in a wine-growing landscape that opens out towards the Tyrrhenian Sea and is sheltered by the hills behind it. This location favours a bright Mediterranean climate, with hot summers, sea breezes and rainfall concentrated mainly between autumn and winter. The soil and climate are shaped by the alluvial nature of the plain, moulded over time by the watercourses that cross the area: deep, fertile soils capable of supporting a diverse range of viticulture and ensuring the grapes ripen in a balanced manner.
The local winemaking tradition places particular emphasis on Calabrian grape varieties, including Greco, Mantonico, Gaglioppo, Greco Nero and Magliocco. This heritage gives rise to fresh, fragrant white wines, well-structured reds, rosés, passito wines and sparkling wines, all of which are also produced under the Lamezia DOC designation. In the vineyard, espalier and spurred cordon training systems are used, alongside green pruning, grape selection and harvests staggered according to the different ripening times. In the cellar, temperature-controlled vinification in stainless steel tanks preserves the wines’ fragrance, aromatic clarity and varietal identity, whilst longer ageing periods enhance their complexity. Contrada Lenti thus interprets the Mediterranean character of the Piana through precision in production, agricultural heritage and the promotion of indigenous grape varieties.
