Arce is situated on the eastern hills of the Liri Valley, in a rural landscape that links the valley floor to the surrounding slopes and hills. Viticulture benefits from a varied environment, where altitude, aspect and proximity to the river combine to create conditions favourable to the ripening of the grapes. The local climate, characterised by bright summers, colder winters and significant daily temperature variations, encourages the development of distinct aromas, good acidity and a natural balance between structure and freshness.
The soils of the area, shaped by the hilly terrain and the valley’s alluvial deposits, offer a varied composition that brings out the best in both white and red grape varieties. Alongside Malvasia Puntinata, Moscato di Terracina and Syrah, Arce preserves a local ampelographic heritage comprising Lecinaro, Ulivello nero, Pampanaro, Capolongo and Maturano bianco. This yields fragrant and savoury white wines, reds with a fruity and spicy character, and more terroir-driven expressions, capable of conveying identity and depth.
The winemaking tradition, documented by centuries of agriculture and still very much alive in the village’s communal celebrations, is now complemented by meticulous winemaking, selective harvesting and targeted ageing, with the aim of preserving varietal integrity and the distinctive character of the landscape.
