Serdiana is one of the most recognisable names in the Parteolla wine-growing tradition, set amidst the rolling hills of southern Sardinia’s hinterland, not far from Cagliari. Vineyards and olive groves characterise an agricultural landscape with a long-standing history, where the Mediterranean influence brings bright, dry summers, good ventilation and significant temperature variations between day and night. The varied exposures and the varied altitudes help to shape the ripening, aromas and structure of the grapes.
The area’s soils, characterised by limestone and marl components, promote drainage and concentration, supporting viticulture that produces wines that are crisp, balanced and deeply rooted in the landscape. Among the most representative grape varieties, Vermentino and Nuragus stand out for the whites, with fresh, Mediterranean and fragrant profiles, whilst Monica, Cannonau and Bovale define a range of soft, sunny and spicy reds. There is also no shortage of rosé wines and wines made from traditional aromatic grapes, including Malvasia and Moscato.
Local production combines the heritage of indigenous varieties with modern winemaking techniques, using methods that focus on preserving the aromatic character and varietal distinctiveness. Serdiana’s agricultural history, also preserved through the region’s rural traditions and ancient architecture, thus continues to be reflected in distinctive wines that capture the most authentic character of southern Sardinia.
