Monte Nebbione refers to a hilly and mountainous area in the Tuscan Lunigiana, within the municipality of Fosdinovo, nestled between the Apuan Alps, the Magra Valley and the influence of the nearby Gulf of the Poets. The terrain rises to around 688 metres and features undulating slopes, clearings and woods of chestnut, hornbeam, broom and holm oak, with panoramic views towards the coast and the inland valleys. The climate benefits from its transitional position between the Apennines and the Mediterranean: sea breezes contribute to ventilation, whilst altitude and daily temperature variations favour gradual ripening and good preservation of acidity.
From a geological perspective, the area is characterised by the presence of Macigno sandstone, with alternating layers of conglomerate and sedimentary materials that result in well-drained soils, rich in mineral content and capable of imparting vigour and flavour to the grapes. Viticulture follows the tradition of the Colli di Luni, where Vermentino is the most significant grape variety, alongside white and red grape varieties cultivated according to the aspect and nature of the soils. The wines of the region express floral and citrus aromas, freshness, mineral notes and a pleasant tension on the palate. Careful winemaking practices, yield control, selective harvesting and vinification techniques focused on finesse enhance the identity of the terroir.
