Sarche lies at the heart of the Valle dei Laghi, close to the River Sarca, in an alpine landscape softened by Mediterranean influences and its proximity to Lake Garda. The vineyard-covered valley, sheltered by the Paganella and Monte Bondone mountains, enjoys plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and breezes that promote the health of the grapes and gradual ripening.
The geological composition combines dolomite, calcareous marl and components rich in calcium and magnesium carbonates, with soils that ensure good drainage, vegetative balance and a distinct mineral character. The vineyards stretch across the Sarche plain and the surrounding hills, often featuring terraces, dry stone walls and ancient agricultural structures.
The signature grape variety is Nosiola, the star of fresh, savoury and delicately aromatic white wines, as well as Trentino Vino Santo. For the latter, the grapes are harvested and left to dry on traditional ‘arèle’, where a slow concentration process precedes pressing and fermentation. Alongside Nosiola, the range includes Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Müller Thurgau and red grape varieties, produced as still wines, rosés and, occasionally, dried wines. Local tradition combines careful vineyard management, selective harvesting and winemaking techniques designed to preserve freshness, finesse and the distinctive character of the terroir.
