Cantine Catabbo
Cantine Catabbo is a Molise-based producer based in San Martino in Pensilis, in the province of Campobasso, in an area that forms part of the Tintilia del Molise wine-growing region. The winery has built its identity around this rare indigenous red grape variety, which is deeply linked to the region’s agricultural history, highlighting its ability to express colour, body and spicy character without losing its freshness. The vineyards are situated in different soil and climate conditions across the estate’s territory, including Contrada Petriera, Convento and Calvario, where the variety interprets the soils and microclimates with distinct nuances. The winery’s commitment to organic farming reinforces an approach based on care for the raw material and a respectful understanding of its natural environment. Within the framework of the Tintilia del Molise appellation, recognised as a specific benchmark for this grape variety, Catabbo is part of a process aimed at reviving and affirming Molise’s oenological identity. The style of the wines favours recognisable expressions of the terroir: reds with an intense profile, featuring deep colour, fruity and spicy notes, harmonious structure and a freshness that enhances their drinkability. The focus on Tintilia is not merely a matter of varietal specialisation, but a coherent cultural choice, capable of telling the story of a hilly Molise that is authentic and increasingly aware of the value of its native grapes.
