Giuseppe Sedilesu
Giuseppe Sedilesu is a leading figure in the wine-growing industry of Mamoiada, in the heart of Barbagia, where Cannonau finds one of its most distinctive and mountainous expressions. The setting is the Sardinian hinterland, with vineyards situated at high altitude, traditionally trained using the low alberello method and rooted in granitic weathered soils. In this environment, characterised by significant daily temperature fluctuations, intense sunlight and poor soils, the ripening of the grapes preserves their energy, aromatic depth and a distinct terroir character.
Agricultural practices are rooted in local tradition: cultivation is certified organic and prioritises essential interventions, manual labour and a focus on biodiversity. The vineyard’s grape varieties centre on Cannonau, alongside Granazza, a native white grape variety associated with Mamoiada and celebrated as part of the area’s identity.
At the winery, an approach that respects the raw material prevails, with hand-harvested grapes, gentle processing and winemaking based on spontaneous fermentation. Technical choices remain measured: light filtration and a balanced use of oak help to preserve the wine’s territorial character, structure and natural expressiveness. The wines are characterised by Mediterranean intensity, a deep complexity and a close connection to the granitic landscape of Mamoiada, reflecting an authentic and recognisable Sardinian hinterland.
