Grosjean

Grosjean is a Aosta Valley wine producer based in Quart, in the heart of the Aosta Valley, where the vines grow in an alpine landscape characterised by slopes, high altitudes and terraces. Its identity is rooted in the Vallée d’Aoste DOC and the tradition of mountain viticulture, with farming practices that prioritise the preservation of the terroir and the expression of the region’s grape varieties. The natural setting comprises the slopes around Aosta: soils rich in rock fragments and sand, a dry and breezy climate, significant temperature variations and the bright light typical of high altitudes, all of which favour healthy grapes and distinct aromatic profiles.

The approach in the vineyard is focused on sustainability and organic farming, with an emphasis on soil vitality, soil aeration, green manure, targeted water management and minimal use of plant protection products, facilitated by the dry conditions of the Alpine environment. Alongside the native grape varieties of the Aosta Valley, the winery also promotes varieties that have historically adapted to the region, interpreting them with an approach that is in keeping with the mountain landscape.

In the winery, a minimalist philosophy prevails: minimal intervention, respect for the fermentation process, a measured use of technique, and a commitment to producing wines that are free from artificiality. Spontaneous fermentation is encouraged wherever possible, whilst winemaking choices aim to preserve the finesse, lightness and integrity of the raw material. The style of Grosjean wines is recognisable for its freshness, alpine vigour, expressive purity and connection to the terroir, offering a contemporary yet deeply Aosta Valley-inspired interpretation of ‘heroic’ viticulture.
