La Vrille
La Vrille is a Aosta Valley-based producer situated in Verrayes, in the heart of the Aosta Valley, in a mountain wine-growing environment characterised by steep slopes, terraces and intense sunshine. The winery was founded with its first vintage in 2005 and forms part of the Valle d’Aosta DOC appellation, with a particular connection to the Chambave area and its tradition of Muscat, produced in both dry and passito styles.
The vineyards are mainly situated in a natural amphitheatre facing south and south-east, at alpine altitudes, in a xerothermic environment where Mediterranean plants such as thyme grow wild. The loose, sandy morainic soils help to produce wines with a distinct aromatic profile and a marked sense of place. Alongside Chambave Muscat, La Vrille showcases grape varieties linked to the Aosta Valley tradition, such as Petit Rouge, Fumin, Cornalin and Vuillermin, as well as varieties historically present in the region.
The approach in the vineyard prioritises respect for the vines and the soil, with largely manual cultivation, treatments kept to a minimum, and the use of products permitted in organic farming. In the winery, care for the raw material continues with meticulous winemaking, the use of temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve precision and fragrance, targeted ageing for the reds, and a dedicated drying process for the Muscat Flétri. The style of the wines seeks consistency, alpine freshness and distinctiveness, offering an authentic reflection of the Aosta Valley’s wine-growing landscape.
